All time off requests are handled on an ad hoc basis with the worker's hiring manager. Depending on the worker's province/state of operation, worker status, and supplier, they may have entitlement to PTO which they are free to request on their own accord, however, the request must be approved by their manager.
In addition to contractor-initiated time off, some departments at BMO leverage the furlough program, resulting in the contractor observing unpaid time off in addition to statutory holidays. The applicability of the furlough program is department and manager specific- each contractor should engage with their hiring manager to gain more insight into how the furlough program can apply to them.
